SILVER GRAAL CASED GLASS
Highly skilled and unique art glass pieces. An ancient technique, The Holy Grail of glassmaking, extremely challenging and difficult to perfect but Jonathan & his artisan glassmakers have achieved spectacular results. Each piece is unique. The Grรคal technique lends itself to my fascination with blending hot studio techniques with carving and engraving surface layers. The fluid hot glass threatens to take control of my drawn imagery with every warm-in. The challenge is to coax the glass into shape, allowing the temperature of the newly gathered layers to fuse and encapsulate the form before losing control. These pieces seem to become more than the sum of their parts once the final layers are in place.
