Recent Ideals of American Art, Published1890, Large Tome
$599.00
D. Appleton & Company, New York and London, 1890. Text by George William Sheldon. Hardbound. Full elaborate gilt tooled and embossed leather with 5 raised bands and extensive embossing and gilt tooling in the compartments; a real beauty. Top edges are gilt. 162 pp. 175 large plates. 17″ tall, 13″ across and about 10 lbs. A slightly better than average copy of this large, important volume. Entire volume is tight, raised bands and embossing on the spine is in average condition, being somewhat scuffed in places. A treasure trove of plates illustrating the work of American Artists of this period. Scarce, and a copy that will present well. On inside cover is a library plate for Cyrus Alger Hawes (born 1861) from a noted Boston family.
