E.J. Cygne (born 1929) is the nom de plume of Jose Fernandez Jr. This follows in line with Anders Gisson (Gittleson) and Salabet, who used a French name in order to increase the marketability of their paintings. There is a biography of the artist on the reverse of this painting that I have seen on other Cygne paintings. The biography states that the artist went to Columbia University and that the artist exhibited in the U.S. and in Europe. What is known is that the artist’s works have sold at auction for as much as $5000.
