The following is from Gary Stanley, San Diego, CA.
Don F. Palmerton was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 12, 1899. He specialized in painting marine images and landscapes. He studied in Paris, France with Mme. LaFarge, J.C. Abbott, and M.E.Davis.
During his career he was a member of the California Art Club and exhibited his works at the California Art Club Gallery and other venues in Southern California. He died, at an early age, in Hollywood, California on June 23, 1937.
There is a label on the reverse of the painting that states the following:
Title: “Mt. Tallac and Lake Tahoe, California”
(showing the curious natural phenomena a snow cross formed by two deep snow-filled transverse ravines)
Artist:Don F. Palmerton, California Art Club, Los Angeles
Size of Canvas 18 x 24 C-684
I believe this is an exhibition label from the California Art Club
