Willem Sternberg de Beer was born 1941 in Transvaal and studied at the University of Pretoria, before dedicating himself exclusively to painting.  In 1985 he moved to the United Kingdom.

Works by Willem Sternberg de Beer are found today in the collection of the British Royal Family.  Numerous solo exhibitions, such as in the New York Sportsman’s Edge Gallery, present his works.  The member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists is mostly known for his extremely vibrant animal paintings.  His most famous work ‘Snow Leopard in the Himalayas‘ was sold 2007 at Christie’s New York.
